HTML Classes NYC | Intro to HTML & CSS Training Courses

In this class, we’ll introduce you to HTML, the standard markup language used to create webpages.

You’ll dive in and hand code a webpage from scratch, learning how to format paragraphs, headings, and lists. You’ll also learn how to create links, add images, and modify tags with attributes. By the end of class you will learn about CSS (Cascading Style Sheets), including tag selectors, class selectors, and the class attribute.

This one day class is the first day of our more comprehensive Web Development Level 1 class. If you find that you enjoy coding HTML and want to learn more, you can do the remainder of Web Development Level 1 and we’ll take the price of this class off that course.

However, if you plan to take the course live online, you may need to obtain required software. We’ll help you get set up with a free trial of paid software prior to the class. Most of our coding classes utilize freely-available open-source software. For most of our design and motion graphics courses, we will help you get set up with a free trial of Adobe Creative Cloud. If you attend the course in-person, we will have a computer already set up for you with all of the required software for no additional cost.

Do I need to bring anything to the class?

No. We provide computers (Mac or PC) with a coding editor installed. Choose your operating system at checkout.

Does this course require any prior knowledge or experience?

Students must be comfortable using a computer. No other prior knowledge is required.

Can I take this course online (remote learning)?

You may attend this training virtually (online) at the scheduled time the course is offered (New York, Eastern Time).

How does attending “live online” work?

Students can attend this training remotely through screen sharing software (we use Zoom).
Participants can hear the instruction, ask questions, and even share their screen with the instructor.
For audio you can use your computer’s microphone/speakers or call a phone number that we’ll provide.
Classes are activity-based and taught by a live instructor, so we strongly encourage students who are local to the area to attend in person!
You will need your own computer and copy of any required software. If you don’t have the software, you can usually do a free trial or purchase your own license. If you need assistance, contact us at hello@nobledesktop.com

What happens if I need to miss a session?

You have some options:

You can watch a recording of the session. We will provide any course materials.
If you can’t come into the classroom but can still attend remotely, we will provide you with the Zoom login information.
You can use your free retake to make up any missed class time.

Design Websites with HTML & CSS

HTML

To create webpages and emails we use HTML code (Hypertext Markup Language).
HTML tags mark up (label) content to indicate headings, paragraphs, lists, links, images, and more.
You can get a quick start in our 3-hour Intro to HTML & CSS class, dive deeper in our 18-hour Web Development with HTML & CSS class, or for the most thorough training earn a certificate in front-end development, full-stack development, or web design.

CSS

CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) code is used to style the contents of a webpage (or email), based on the HTML markup.
CSS controls the appearance of everything, from fonts and color, to building responsive page layouts that look good across screen sizes (mobile, tablet, and desktop).
Start learning CSS in our Web Development Level with HTML & CSS class. Dive deeper in our Advanced HTML & CSS class where we cover many important CSS concepts. In our Flexbox, Grid, & Bootstrap class you’ll learn how to use flexbox and grid to layout, align, and reorder webpage content, as well as make it adapt to different size screens. The classes can be taken individually, or as part of a certificate program.
